Subject: District Youth Exchange Student privacy and Safety Policy
Dear Youth Exchange Volunteers
As our students arrive I want to remind you of our policy regarding posting photos of students or their personal information.
For the safety and protection of our students, our district policy is that Student photos and personal information must not be posted in newspapers and online, including social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, etc), club websites, or community pages or online newsletters.
As per Rotary International Electronic and On-Line Safety Considerations: “Stories about and images of youth program participants should not be shared or posted until they have completed their program or activity, and only with the participant’s and their parents’ consent. Never tag a minor or share their username or handle online. This could threaten their safety by revealing their interests or the locations they visit often.”
Our priority is always the safety and well-being of our students entrusted to our care. Even well-intentioned posts can compromise student privacy or put them at risk.
This policy is in place to ensure that our students’ privacy and personal security are never compromised. We ask all volunteers, clubs, and host families to strictly follow this and to help us maintain the highest standard of care for our students.
Kindly share this policy with your clubs’ members and host families.
Regards,
Pat Carson
